Segregation and education

“More than 50 years after Brown v. Board of Education, many of the nation’s school systems remain extremely segregated.” an example includes schools in Baltimore. Race is a topic not easily discussed there because segregation is still going on over there. “Continued segregation in public schools on classroom achievement and how unexamined racial attitudes can negatively affect minority-student achievement.” Children in segregated classrooms often receive less resources than those in a highly diverse setting. Learning about race will help our society because then we will help address the practices and policies that perpetuate inequality.
